MBBS in China is very important information for future medical students. For prospective foreign medical students, Chinese public universities where the medium of instruction is English are the best and most suitable option to study MBBS, although not all, but some are most suitable for Pakistani students for several reasons.
In fact, in China, only English-speaking universities are legally allowed by the Ministry of Education to teach English to foreign students, and these universities, also known as “listed universities,” are the only ones that can offer MBBS programs.

The annual cost of a listed English university, including full tuition, room, and board, is approximately 10-11 million Pakistani Rupees. The MBBS program consists of 5 years of study and 1 year of internship, making the MBBS degree and diploma a total of 6 years. The total cost of the MBBS program after graduation is between PKR 65 million and PKR 70 million.
Unfortunately, most Pakistanis are not aware of the English-speaking universities listed by the Ministry that legally organize MBBS programs.
Universities that do not speak English are bilingual universities. They cost between 7.5-8.5 million Euros, including all fees such as tuition, accommodation, and meals.
The following students are eligible to apply to an English-speaking university
Students must obtain a minimum of 70% F.Sc. The student must have obtained at least 70% F.Sc. in the Pre-Medical examination and at least 60% in the main subject. If the applicant does not gain the same score, he/she will not admit to the following universities listed by the Ministry of Education
Bilingual MBBS universities in China
In a bilingual university, Chinese and English are studied together. While most of them do not have MBBS degrees, only a few of them do. Their degree is called MB (Bachelor of Medicine). At these universities, students must pass and meet the requirements of the HSK4 exam in their first year. HSK4 is a year-long Chinese language course and it is very important to complete this course, otherwise you cannot continue studying medicine in the second year.
Disadvantages of bilingual universities:
Tragically, many students who don’t study hard enough to even qualify through out when they fail college and live in hotels to get new offers (often hide from their families).
Bilingual universities teach medicine in the English medium, but the danger is that you never know when they will suddenly switch to the Chinese medium. As has happened in the past, many universities are bilingual and teach in English for the second year, but then switch back to Chinese and all students must either teach in Chinese or rejoin another university.
It is all a self-judgment risk (since moving to China is simply not possible), and some universities, such as Taishan Medical University and Jining Medical University, have suddenly reverted to teaching in Chinese.
Remember that students who study medicine in Chinese will find it difficult to apply for PMC in Pakistan.
